every woman (young or old) should know…

3 things

“I’ve seen women endure horrible relationships because of insecurities. That’s not what I want for my daughters, so here’s what I’m teaching them:

1. Your love is precious. Don’t give it to someone undeserving.

2. You can’t rescue a man; he has to be happy on his own before you can be happy together.

3. And you’re not Cinderella, so don’t think you need a man to rescue you.

—When A Heart Breaks

I have just been absolutely in love with this song lately and thought I’d share.  Ben Rector’s soothing voice just captures my heart!

A year ago today Heaven gained another Angel as Heather Faith Beyer lost her battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
To a group of 9 of us she was more than just a cheerleading coach.  She was a sister, a friend, a role model, and someone who believed in us when others were shutting us down.  She taught us how put all of our efforts into everything and how to work for perfection, while teaching us how to be women of class and to take advantage of opportunities that came our way.
I could go on and on of memories with Heather.  About how her faith affected me, or how she stood up for 9 seniors who felt they weren’t being heard, or how we got to be a part of her magical wedding day.  What I will say is that I love her and miss her more than anything.  I can truly say that she affected and changed my life for the better.
As I sit here and struggle with the fact that she’s gone I am reminded that she’s still here.  Yes, she’s gone from her earthly body, but she is here, watching over all of us.  And THAT is something that brings me comfort.
